I just got back from taking the kids to horseback riding lessons. I don't know how much longer we will be able to do it this year, it all depends on how the weather holds out. We started taking them in the middle of summer. I was told that horseback riding would be good for Jonathan, help him develop his upper body strength. But we, unfortunately, did not have the funds to allow him to take the lessons. Well we have a sister-in-law on Ty's side of the family whose parents own horses. I talked with them and the Peggy said that she would be willing to give Jona lessons for free and then she let George and McKenna take them as well. She loves horses and wants to pass that love on. We are so blessed. The kids love it and do really well with it. I will be sad when the weather changes to the point where we won't be able to take them until the Spring. Jona has also been able to start piano lessons with my sister-in-law's mother. She comes out and takes him out of school for a half an hour on Thursdays. She picks him up and takes him to my brothers home and then takes him back to school all for $6 a lesson. What a bargain! I think we will start McKenna in a couple of years. Then the other day Jona comes home and says that he wants to take Karate lessons. They had a couple of people come to their class and talk to them about Karate. Well we don't have the money for Karate lessons but Ty's youngest brother just earned his black belt in some type of marshal arts so I am going to have Ty ask him and see if he would be willing to teach Jonathan. Especially during the winter when we don't have the horseback riding.
Halloween is quickly approaching and I need to get into gear and get the kids' costumes ready. George is all set. I bought him an Anikan costume at Kid to Kid for $8. McKenna wants to be a mummy and Jona wants to be Spaceman Spiff (of Calvin and Hobbes fame). So I need to get a white sheet that I can tear into strips...Ty's grandma said that she had one that we could have. And I need to find a light blue sweat suit for Jona. Where am I going to find a light blue sweat suit this time of year?

Well I thought that I might start blogging again (not that I ever did really regularly to begin with) so here I am. The past few months have been pretty regular stuff. Nothing major happening. We had a nice summer, went to the pool a few times. Didn't get to go camping. The kids started school. George is in Pre-K three days a week in the mornings, McKenna is a Kindergartner and Jona is in the third grade (which is pretty hard to fathom some days). Jillian will be nine months old on the 24th of this month but she looks like (and is wearing the same size clothing as) a 12 month, or even 18 month old. She is fun....they all are most of the time.
I went on a field trip today with George to Pumpkin Land. It's a gardening center that turns into a place for kids to come and play and explore in October. It has a corn maze and tons of pumpkins...of which the kids get to take a free (small) one home. There are goats and turkeys and chickens and bunnies for the kids to look at. A HUGE pumpkin head/jack-o-lantern for them to climb in and through and a few other things. It is really a cute place. Wierdly enough it's owned by my Jr. High school science teacher.I have gone on field trips there before and we have gone as a family. Today it was a bit different though...it was PACKED with kids. Usually they schedule it so that groups go through and they don't over lap too much but there was a Kindergarten group that showed up early and actually snuck in ahead of our group...grrr. And those kids weren't very nice. Plus the ground there is just dirt and we haven't hand any rain forever so the dust was getting kicked up into the air and the kids were getting filthy. It turned out to be okay but it would have been better if that group had waited until their allotted time...less chaotic. As you go through the maze they have jokes that you can read....like "What position does a ghost play on a hockey team? The Ghoulie" So we would read them as we went through and I would totally crack up at them and say "Boy was that funny!" George just loved it...even though he didn't understand any of the jokes..lol! I feel bad though because I forgot to take my camera along and so I didn't get any pictures. Oh well not much I can do about it now. They have their Halloween program on the 30th so I will definitely remember it then.
I guess that is it for now. We will see how I do in posting regularly. Until the next post.
