- Background: The Keepers of the Scrolls are commonly called "Greybeards" due to their long, ceremonial, dyed beards, so distinctive of this cult of Altuth. They inhabit only the great temple of Altuth in the capital city, which boasts an extensive library of tomes, scrolls, and tablets, to which the Greybeards devote their life of prayer and study. These men research, copy, and preserve the library at all costs. They generally are "for hire" only by nobility (for example, researching land deeds, heraldry, or genealogy), although for a price they may be interested in taking the time to do work for merchants or other parties with the coin (for example, Yule hired them on 10 January 986 for 500 coppers.)
