[edit] Exchange Rates
[edit] Coins
Currency throughout Westaven is rather universal. However, do not try to tell this to a money exchanger. Coins generally exchange at the same rate as their raw metal value minus a 15% fee. Example: 1 lbs of ancient Aenean copper coins would be worth $16. The fee to exchange them for current copper farthings would be $5 leaving $11. In such a case, it might be more lucrative to find a party interested in buying the old coins.
[edit] Metals
Raw metals can be exchanged for coins. Fees for this service usually run 30% of the value of the metal. Example: 100 lbs of gold is worth $80,000. The fee to exchange the raw gold for coins is 30% of its total value which would be $24,000 leaving $56,000. While it is cheaper to keep the raw gold, it is also much more likely to raise suspicions.
