Gharv's Head

-Also know as Fire Head, and Deaf Man's Fever

Gharv's Head is a midly contagious, but virelant sickness characterized by high fever, dry cough, headache, sore throat and back pains. Those unlucky enough to catch this fever also suffer muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea, chills and difficulty keeping anything on their stomach. As the fever continues, the afflicted suffer facial swelling, loss of appetite and weight, lethargy, severe chest and abdominal pain, and a ringing in the ears that effects the quality of one's hearing. Final stages of the fever lead to swelling of the neck, eyes, and light bleeding from the mucus membranes. If the patient recovers the possibility of light damage to ones ability to hear at best, to complete deafness at worst is possible.

In general, those hale of body recover within three to five days. Gharv's head is painful but rarely deadly, it's more serious effects developing if the disease progresses without any intervention or help from a healer or outsiders. Only the elderly, or those in poor health are in danger of any of the more serious effects. Death from Gharv's Head is rare if proper measures are taken, but enough deaths are recorded that when one catches Gharv's Head, the fever isn't taken lightly.

Their is no true cure for Gharv's Head, Healer's can only make the sufferer comfortable and administer herbs that soothe pain. The afflicted must rest and allow their body to fight the fever. Making the person comfortable and keeping them at rest is the best course with such a fever.
