General Information/Misc/Elixir
From Westaven
The Elixir is a white, thick ointment of healing. When applied to an open wound it hisses and bubbles as if acid or molten lead were eating down into the flesh. At first the bubbling salve smells of a sweet, cinnamon odor, but then transformed to the smell of charring flesh. The searing burns horribly, oftentimes causing the patient to faint (even those with amazing pain tolerances), but ss a result of using the Elixer, within half a day or less the worst gash is healed, leaving a scar and bruise.
Although most who know about this salve probably believe the physician Lyntannic's conceived of and creates it, the Elixir was actually the invention of Ves at Lyntannic's request and expense, from August 985 to July 986 AE. Once Ves left this work (to pursue other avenues of learning), Lyntannic most likely has insufficient ability or knowledge to produce more of the ointment, although he might.
The source of the misnomer (for the Elixir is not a drink at all, but a salve) lies in Lyntannic seeking a potion, which was impossible using the formula Ves concocted; Lyntannic did not mind, of course, that the result was an ointment rather than a drink, but the name “The Elixir” remained.
The Elixir was used by Lyntannic to heal both Heron (on 8 Oct 985) and James (on 8 Oct 985).
