A Yule is the term for a particularly devastating sea storm--much like a high-powered monsoon or hurricane. These are "once in a lifetime" storms, the last to have hit the central Pollexian coast being in 957 AE.

These storms have spawned many legends, and are even part of the cliches of the day, such as...

• "business must sail even after the Yule" said by merchants trying to carry on after an unprofitable business deal (or any other major setback)
• "like a Yule in the face" for any horrible blow to one's self-esteem.

This meteorological event "Yule" should not be confused with the dual sword wielding Yule--although the person was named after the storm during which he was conceived. (see his background)
