[edit] History
Janæl Kovath was born 10 November 922 in the Kovath home, which later became known as the Hargold Home, at Civnadia as the only child of Bryn Kovath and Namia Tweldon. On 10 July 941 she married a young, aspiring merchant by the name of Torson Hargold in Hadrian. 23 December 942 she gave birth to her first child, Osseric Hargold. On the 24th of January 948 tragedy struck the Hargold and Kovath families. Janæl, who was pregnant, had moved back to Civnadia while Torson plied his wares and on the 24th of January she gave birth to another boy, only he was stillborn or so said the midwife. Only years later did Janæl learn that her son, Gereth Hargold, had indeed survived and was, in fact, still alive. Two years later on the 21st of April 950, Janæl gave birth to her last child, Davlin Hargold.
During the Spring of 954, Janæl's parents both died within days of each other leaving Janæl and Torson to inherit the Kovath home and lands. It was only 13 short years later that death again visited the Hargold family: Torson Hargold was killed in his fields by a crossbow bolt in his back. Janæl took what little comfort she could in her two sons but even that solace was short-lived as Davlin was called away to Hadrian to serve Emperor and King. Eventually, Hadrian called Osseric to its walls but it was not the clarion call of a soldier's life that called him but the siren call of greater wealth. With little regard for his mother's welfare, beyond a stipend he sent monthly to her, Osseric left Civnadia for Hadrian.
Janæl had not sat idly by over the years but had learned a great deal from her father and her husband, not to mention that Osseric had left most of the family staff in Civnadia. In the ensuing years, Janæl, had little trouble providing for herself and her servants. There was even some speculation among the townsfolk that she could well follow her husbands steps and become a well known merchant herself. Perhaps it was such talk that brought Osseric back to Civnadia and perhaps that is why he moved Janæl to Hadrian where she lives to this day, seemingly a prisoner in her own home.
