From Westaven
[Thu Dec 06 21:12:52 2007] : GM: The next morning, Yule goes out once again to find a suitable blacksmith. He has followed many leads over the past couple days, and even spoke with some of the weaponsmiths and armorers that would admit to speak to him, but none were to his liking.
[Thu Dec 06 21:13:45 2007] : GM: He did eventually gain word of a man skilled in such work, and so today he walks down the morning street to find the man.
[Thu Dec 06 21:15:35 2007] : GM: He finds the smithy and enters to discover a couple men working. After speaking with the owner, he discoverd the man to whom he'd been referred is a wandering armorer/smith of sorts.
[Thu Dec 06 21:16:30 2007] : GM: He directs him to the man--a giant of a human being, who comes forth to speak to Yule.
[Thu Dec 06 21:35:49 2007] : GM: Yes, roll IQ-1 to see how well you skinned the serpent.
[Thu Dec 06 21:36:14 2007] : YULE: IQ [10] => 10 [3d6.skill(10,0-1)] => [4,4,3] = 11 vs (9) or less Failure! by 2
[Thu Dec 06 21:37:59 2007] : GM: It's ok, Yule--so what will happen now is that an armorer will have to roll at -2; so it's still quite possible it could be done, just Yule made some mistakes which will make it more difficult on 'em
[Thu Dec 06 21:40:38 2007] : Sam: Sam is a literal wall of a man - a tall wall - topping out at 7' tall and with the girth and muscles characteristic of most smiths
[Thu Dec 06 21:42:00 2007] : Sam: seeing him work the forge and make the metal form to his will is like watching he and the metal dance - and the shapes he dances the metal into are incredible
[Thu Dec 06 21:42:25 2007] : YULE: Yule looks at Sam thinking the last thing he saw a man close to this height was a giant who tried to kill him.
[Thu Dec 06 21:43:12 2007] : Sam: he is quite at home facing the hot coals of a forge, and the hammer and anvil seem as delicate artist tools in his hands, rather than huge pieces of metal
[Thu Dec 06 21:43:54 2007] : YULE: Yule shows Sam his broken sword and ask about turning the serpent hide into armour.
[Thu Dec 06 21:46:48 2007] : YULE: Yule has Shadow out with him since it seems that Shadow follows Yule every where he goes now.
[Thu Dec 06 21:48:31 2007] : Sam: Well, let's see what we have here then (takes the sword)
[Thu Dec 06 21:49:40 2007] : Sam: This is very nice workmanship sir, but its a shame about it breaking...
[Thu Dec 06 21:49:47 2007] : Sam: Armoury/TL3 (Melee Weapons) (13) [3d6.skill(13,+5)] => [5,1,5] = 11 vs (18) or less Success! by 7
[Thu Dec 06 21:50:26 2007] : Sam: But, I think I can remake it for you - give me 4 days with it and it will be like a new blade again!
[Thu Dec 06 21:50:45 2007] : YULE: "Yes....it is a fine weapon"
[Thu Dec 06 21:51:02 2007] : YULE: Yule grins..."very good..."
[Thu Dec 06 21:51:57 2007] : Sam: Sam looks at the skin next. "Oh my, what do we have here? What manner of animal did *this* come from?" Sam holds it up, trying to get his head wrapped around the obvious size of the creature it came off of.
[Thu Dec 06 21:52:45 2007] : YULE: Yule grins again..."It came from a serpent....that is how I broke my sword"
[Thu Dec 06 21:53:12 2007] : ** Sam blinks in amazement **
[Thu Dec 06 21:53:50 2007] : YULE: "I don't care about the cost on the armour or sword....do you best work my friend"
[Thu Dec 06 21:53:58 2007] : Sam: Wow, a brave man you must be sir, to even approach a serpant of such size... but then, I'll imagine it was fun... (smiles)
[Thu Dec 06 21:54:13 2007] : Sam: what would you like me to craft with this most unique skin?
[Thu Dec 06 21:54:32 2007] : YULE: Yule gives a big smile...."Fun it was.....deadly fun"
[Thu Dec 06 21:55:58 2007] : YULE: "Armour for my legs, arms, boots, and gloves...it there is enough...or if you can do it..."
